Hello and welcome to another edition of Spotlight.
We are delighted to be celebrating the achievements of three pupils today and we have a lovely variety in respect of what they have done. First up with have our skateboarding superstar. Our Year 2 pupil has been skateboarding for a while now and were lucky to see him demonstrate some of his moves in the school playground for us! Please do check out the video below which is just a hint as to what he can do. A fantastic hobby and we are sure he will continue to develop and be back on the spotlight again to show us even more skateboarding techniques and moves! Well done!
I have been skateboarding for about 1 and a half years now. I started because my dad used to skateboard and is now getting back in to it himself with me. He was really good at tricks and we’re helping each other learn new tricks all the time. I’ve even dropped in to a 6 foot bowl! I hope you enjoy my video! If you see me in the playground I would be happy to talk to you about skateboarding.
Next up we have one of our Year 6 girls who has represented the school football team a lot in the last couple of years. She has also achieved greatly outside of school and here she is with her bronze trophy for fantastic football skills. Whilst we will miss her when she goes to secondary school we are sure to see more of her as a footballer outside of school. Brilliant!
Over a recent weekend I went to Bognor Regis to take part in a football competition. We played 3 games on Saturday and 2 more games on Sunday. We managed to come third place overall. I made lots of really good passes and came with a trophy for participation. We have a couple of friendlies coming up and in June we are taking part in another competition.
Lastly we have a returning spotlight star. Our Year 4 pupil has been amazing in her outside rugby achievements and recently represented the school in a rugby tournament. Recently she has received even more success on a rugby tour where she won 7 out of the 8 matches. She also got to meet a world cup winner for England – Lewis Moody – and brought in her shirt, medal and photo for all to see. Great work!
This weekend I was lucky enough to go to Camber Sands to take part in a rugby tour. I was representing my team Old Elthamians RFC and had to play four games on Saturday and another four on Sunday. We won all but one match and managed to come third. I was very proud of getting third place and was the team captain for the last game. I even had a chance to meet Lewis Moody, 2003 World Cup Winner for England!
I have been playing tennis for about a year now. Recently, I’ve been part of two competitions (one over the last weekend and other a couple of weeks ago). One of my awards for taking part in the Gravesham competition (I got to the quarter finals). The other is for coming runner up by winning 3 out of 4 games. I’m part of a tennis club and go training there every Tuesday. I love playing tennis because of my friends and also go up against my dad to help improve my skills.
Thanks to all those on spotlight and if you want to celebrate your achievements with us please see Mr. Eastes and Mr. Clegg.
