Welcome to Walliams Class!
We have been named after David Walliams, a well known author of children’s books, amongst them such best-sellers as ‘The Boy in a Dress’, ‘Gangster Granny’ and ‘Demon Dentist’. In our class we are big fans of his amusing, but also touching books, and can’t wait to read all of them. Walliams is also an actor, a comedian, a TV presenter and an avid activist. He is a truly inspirational figure.
This year we will be improving and developing our literacy and maths skills and have some exciting topics to look forward to. Traders and Raiders, Blue Abyss and Road Trip US are a just a few of them. All parents and carers are welcome to come to our classroom where they will have the opportunity to share, discuss and celebrate all of the wonderful work we have been doing each week. We also welcome and greatly appreciate any props, posters or artefacts that the children may have at home and wish to bring into school to share with the class.
In Walliams class we are encouraged to be independent and take care of the learning environment. Therefore we are given jobs such as: Ubuntu, Sport and IT Leaders, School Councillors and Book Corner Monitors.
In DBCPS a positive attitude to learning and good behaviour is celebrated by using reward systems – we follow the ‘Good to be Green’ chart and we are awarded Dojo points for specific achievements. We also follow the Ubuntu philosophy, which supports our emotional development and teaches us how to be open minded, kind and care for each other.
Important things for parents/carers to remember:
- Homework – We send the Homework out on a Wednesday and it needs to be returned on Monday.
- Reading Records- Your child needs to bring their reading books in every day to ensure they have it for when we listen to them read.
- PE kits – PE kits need to be brought in on Monday and left in school till Friday.
Please feel free to speak with us at the end of your child’s day if you have any questions for us, however if there is something urgent do not hesitate to speak to us in the morning if it is likely to affect your child’s ability to learn.
We hope that your child enjoys their time at school and has fun learning lots of new and exciting things!
