About A. A. Milne
Alan Alexander Milne (18 January 1882 – 31 January 1956) was an English author, best known for his books about the teddy bear Winnie-the-Pooh and for various poems. Milne was a noted writer, primarily as a playwright, before the huge success of Pooh overshadowed all his previous work. Milne served in both World Wars, joining the British Army in World War I, and was a captain of the British Home Guard in World War II.
Welcome to Milne class page! We are one of the Year Two classes here at Dartford Bridge Community Primary School and named after the author of the wonderful ‘Winnie the Pooh’ stories, A.A. Milne. This is one of the poems he wrote:
Now We Are Six
By A. A. Milne
When I was One,
I had just begun.
When I was Two,
I was nearly new.
When I was Three
I was hardly me.
When I was Four,
I was not much more.
When I was Five,
I was just alive.
But now I am Six,
I’m as clever as clever,
So I think I’ll be six now for ever and ever.
Our teachers are Mrs Fletcher and Mrs Crocker. Our teaching assistant is Mrs Brown. Mrs Fletcher loves reading thriller books, running and Maths. Mrs Crocker loves jigsaw puzzles and Sudoku and logic problems!
In our classroom we have a ‘Rainbow Retreat’ for our reading area and a topic corner for us to explore our learning actively, display and celebrate our work. For term 1, we are very excited to be making a castle role play area, linking to our topic: ‘Tunnels, Turrets and Towers’. We also have a ‘Wow Work Wall’ to show off our brilliant work, and lots of space to use to share our learning we do each week.
Our class uses the whole school lily pad behavior system- aiming to be green by the end of the day, or even silver or gold! We also use Dojo points. As children enter in the mornings they will have a special place to put their water bottles, and will need to select a coloured counter for their lunch choice to put next to their name, before starting their early morning task.
We encourage growth mindsets in our class and value every child’s contributions, celebrating risk-taking and curiosity. We follow the Ubuntu philosophy and everybody works together to create an inclusive, supportive and happy environment! We like smiles!
