Shoe Transformation in Art Club
During the last term in art club we have be transforming the look, feel and form of an old shoe into something more interesting.
We began our journey by looking at the work of Ian Sklarsky, who creates art using pen, ink and colour. Using techniques we have learnt we traced an outline of a sneaker with black marker and coloured the background with vivid patterns and colours. We then experimented by reversing the process, colouring in the sneakers and keeping the background plain. In the following weeks we have been researching art using reclaimed materials and in particular shoe sculptures. We chose a sculpture drew this in our art books and thought about the materials that we would need to make our ideas a reality.
As the end of our shoe project is drawing near, I think that you can see from our first finished sculpture, we have taken an old shoe and transformed it into something more creative and imaginative. We still have some more work to do and we hope you will enjoy seeing our end results.
