Roots to Food
A day of cooking and learning about nutrition was the order of the day for our children on Wednesday.
Darren from Roots to Food spent the morning with our Key Stage 2 children and set up a live ‘cook off’ between two teams, working against the clock, to create two delicious dishes. The ingredients were very kindly supplied by our caterers and everyone worked to prepare and cook their food. Learning about the different food groups and how they can benefit the body was very interesting will help us make healthier choices in the future. Finally came the taste test, lead by our tasting team…the food was delicious! A huge well done to both teams who performed under pressure in front of a full school hall. We hope you use your new found confidence in your cooking ability to do more at home with your families.
During the afternoon our younger children had an energetic session learning about exercise, how much fruit and veg we should be aiming to eat each day and even made some amazing banana smoothies to help restore our energy.
