On Tuesday, Mrs Mohideen planned an exhilarating experience for Ezra Class to embrace our topic – Hola Mexico! During the experience, we learnt the Mexican hat dance; I found it hype and up-beat. We were shown a choreographed piece of the folk dance and we learnt it easily as it was repetitive. It included a lot of footwork and clapping.
Out of thin air, we sat down to listen to traditional Mariachi and Ranchera Music. It made me feel warm and welcomed to Mexican culture. I couldn’t compare it to the everyday pop music, as it was unique in its own way. We tried creating our own moves while using the percussion instrument such as hand drums, tambourines and maracas.
Once we went to the classroom, Ms Bishop made some refreshing Latin Limeade (lemonade). The aroma filled the classroom and made me feel all summery. The zesty odour wafted around the room leaving me even thirstier. Momentarily, I received my tangy, icy, lemony drink and the after taste was interesting.
