Sir Michael Philip Jagger (born 26 July 1943), known professionally as Mick Jagger, is an English singer-songwriter, musician, composer and actor who gained fame as the lead singer and one of the founder members of the Rolling Stones. Jagger’s career has spanned over five decades, and he has been described as “one of the most popular and influential frontmen in the history of rock & roll”. Jagger was born and grew up in Dartford, Kent.
He studied at the London School of Economics before abandoning his academic career to join the Rolling Stones.
In 1989, Jagger was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2004 into the UK Music Hall of Fame with the Rolling Stones. As member of the Stones, and as solo artist, he reached number one on the UK and US singles charts with 13 singles, the Top 10 with 32 singles and the Top 40 with 70 singles. In 2003, he was knighted for his services to popular music.
Welcome to Jagger class page!
In Jagger class we value every child’s contributions and everybody works together to create an inclusive, supportive and happy environment!
This year the children will continue to learn about ‘Growth Mindset’ and we will follow the ‘Ubuntu’ philosophy. We will be finding out about fun and exciting things including topics such as: ‘Towers, Tunnels and Turrets’, ‘Beat Band Boogiel’, ‘Muck, Mess and Mixtures’, ‘Bounce’, ‘Wriggle and Crawl’ and ‘Beachcombers’. Also children will be experiencing some amazing school trips.
In our class, we have some great strategies in helping the children show positive behaviour such as Dojo points which is a whole school reward system, where the class teacher and teachers of other classes can reward your child for positive behaviour. We also follow the ‘Good to be Green’ philosophy and want to be on green at the end of each day. In addition, we use class table points, where we have to work together in our table groups, to earn points. Each Friday the table with the most points gets a trophy.
- Homework is given out on Wednesdays to be returned on Monday for marking.
- Reading books will be changed once a week on a Monday, when your child will be given 2 books to share across the week. The books will be changed only if they are read and recorded in the Reading Record book.
- Please ensure that every item of your children’s clothing and book bag are clearly labelled with their name.
- If your child wears earrings, can they please be removed or covered with tape for our P.E lessons on Mondays and Thursdays.
In our class we always welcome volunteers to help us with reading!
Have a lovely time in Year 2!
